A crunchy, tangy vinegar slaw with a simple cider vinegar dressing. Perfect for pulled pork, tacos, burgers, and meal prep.
July Fourth food should feel like a party even if you're cooking in flip-flops and juggling sparklers, sunscreen, and a bag of chips that somehow already got crushed. These Firecracker Hot Dogs are my favorite kind of holiday trick: familiar enough for picky eaters, loud enough for the flavor people, and fast enough that you can actually hang out with everyone instead of babysitting the stove.
The move is simple. We pan-sear or grill the hot dogs until the edges get snappy, then brush on a quick spicy sweet firecracker glaze that goes sticky in about a minute. On top, a crunchy vinegar slaw brings the snap and tang that keeps the whole thing from turning into a salt bomb. You get crisp edges, bright sauce, cozy carbs, and that mid-bite pause where you go, “Okay, wow.”
