A simple, glossy chocolate sauce with deep cocoa flavor. Make it on the stove in about 10 minutes and pour it on everything.
Chocolate milkshakes are the unofficial peace treaty of the kitchen. Someone had a day. Someone needs a win. Someone is a kid, or an adult who would like five minutes of being a kid. This one is my go-to because it tastes like a diner shake without requiring diner equipment, diner money, or diner pants.
We keep it simple: good vanilla ice cream, cocoa for deep chocolate flavor, a tiny hit of salt (trust me), and enough milk to get you to that perfect straw resistance. It should be thick enough to feel dramatic, but not so thick you sprain your cheeks.
