You craft a Suspicious Looking Eye using 6 Lenses. You craft it at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar.
Where do I craft the Suspicious Looking Eye?
At a Demon Altar (Corruption) or Crimson Altar (Crimson). These spawn naturally underground in their respective biomes, often in those chasm-like cave areas. You do not need to collect the altar. Walk up to it with the materials in your inventory and open the crafting menu.
How do I get Lenses fast?
Fight Demon Eyes on the surface at night. Lenses are not guaranteed every kill, so plan to take down a handful. If you want the low-stress method, build a simple flat strip of platforms and place a few torches so you can see. A basic ranged weapon makes this smoother, but anything works if you keep moving.
Can I summon the Eye of Cthulhu during the day?
No. The Suspicious Looking Eye only works at night. If you try to use it during the day, it will not summon.
Why will the Suspicious Looking Eye not work?
Common causes: it is daytime, the Eye is already alive somewhere in the world, or you are in the middle of another major encounter (for example, some invasions and events can block summons). The simplest check is timing. Wait until night fully begins and try again.
Does the Eye of Cthulhu spawn naturally?
Yes. It can spawn on its own once you have enough maximum life (typically 200+) and at least 3 town NPCs. Crafting the summon just lets you control the timing and location, which is the whole point if you like your chaos scheduled.
How many Suspicious Looking Eyes should I craft?
Craft one for your first attempt, then consider a second as backup once you know you are close. If you are still building gear and movement, put your time into armor, accessories, and an arena first. A stronger setup is worth more than five extra summons.
