Make a deli-style Italian sub at home with layers of cured meats, provolone, crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a punchy oil and vinegar dressing.
There are sandwiches you eat, and sandwiches you commit to. An Italian sub is the second kind. It is crunchy and juicy at the same time, loaded with salty deli meat, provolone, and a bright, herby oil and vinegar dressing that makes you pause mid-bite like, okay wow.
This is my home-kitchen version: no hard-to-find ingredients, no fussy technique, and one very important rule: dress the lettuce. That one move keeps everything evenly seasoned instead of turning into a puddle at the bottom of the roll.
